My favorite sushi spot in Long Island! The rice is always perfect, sushi fresh, and the specials delicious.

My wife and I wanted to try a new sushi spot for a Friday date night recently, so I did some digging online and came across many recommendations for Taka. Taka is very unassuming from the outside - your standard Long Island strip mall sushi restaurant, but luckily the food and experience were far more elevated than that. We learned that Taka was celebrating 19 years in that location the night we visited. The fish was all incredibly fresh and the sake selection was also good. You can tell that Taka is passionate about his craft and the "regulars" made it clear that this is the place to go. Looking forward to a return visit soon!

Never been disappointed. Whether eating in, or having ordered for takeout, the food is fresh and delicious. Lovely atmosphere in-house, and they deliver if you prefer! Great sushi :)

One of the best sushi spots I've ever tried! Wow! Cozy little spot. I can't wait to go back to try more rolls! Everything was so fresh. Service was good. Rolls didn't need any soy sauce or spicy Mayo, enough said.

I'm not sure how I never reviewed - possibly because I subconsciously was gatekeeping?! Just kidding. But it's a place to keep dear to your hearts and your belly. One of our favorite authentic sushi spots not only on LI but even compared to the city. We have been customers for years - Chef Taka always delivers. Whether or not it's just the delicious, melt in your mouth omakase, or adding in curated appetizers with fresh, seasonal ingredients. And some how we always end up with a fine sake or beer option even when not expecting to drink ;) It's unassuming and quaint, but truly a gem. Every piece is so delicious, I can never decide which extra piece I want to add.

I'm the first to admit I'm not big on sushi. However, my partner loves sushi so I compromised and decided to come here. Let me start off by saying they serve MOSTLY sushi. The only items that are not are something similar to chicken teriyaki, edamame, and tempura. All of the above were delicious, especially the edamame and tempura. I decided to try one of the rolls my partner ordered - a tempura w/ crab leg roll. It was very good but a bit sweet. I think that's my main issue with sushi - the sweetness. I am open to trying other rolls since I do love seafood but I need something that doesn't have that sweetness on it! The spot is small and reservations are suggested. The menu is small as well but if you like sushi this is your spot.

This sushi place is my new obsession! The place is in the area of a small plaza, so there are a lot of parking spaces. The restaurant is intimate and has probably around 12 tables and a spot next to the chef where you can observe the cooking process. The staff was friendly, and my hubby and I were seated promptly. I have heard that the place offers omakase, but it is off the menu, so don't forget to ask the waiter about it. I chose to go with 12 pieces of omakase. Once the chef finished my order, he brought the plate himself and told me about every component. The fish was phenomenal, fresh, and almost melted in my mouth. Every piece had it is own profile. We also shared Yellowtail in yuzu sauce which is an excellent combination of sweet fish, citrusy dressing, and a spicy kick from the jalapeno. My husband enjoyed his sushi as well! The dessert was also incredible! Overall, this place is outstanding!

This is a hidden gem with amazingly fresh fish and great respectful service. Japanese owned restaurant with multiple Japanese patrons tells me this is the real deal. Both the sushi and sashimi were fresh and prepared with care, and they are served with real Japanese wasabi and ginger on the side. I recommend the Spicy Trio roll, which has crushed up wasabi peas on the outer layer of the roll, which adds depth of flavor. Little known fact: they offer omakase! It isn't advertised on the menu, but ask the server about it. The restaurant has enough seating for a good amount of tables but is cozy, with moderate warm lighting. Definitely a place to share only with your closest friends and family :)

Still the best and freshest sushi on Long Island! They closed the dining room during covid and I wasn't sure if it reopened but it has been open since September 2021 per the owner. The sushi just melts in your mouth. Nice sake menu. Try the sake flight. For $18 you get a good sample of 3 different types of sake. Staff was friendly and appeared pleased to see us. Only change I noticed was no gratis potato salad, which I miss. Hopefully they bring it back. Now that the dining room is open we will be visiting on a regular basis.
